Westmead is a railway station on the Western and Cumberland railway lines of the CityRail network. It has four tracks, and the tracks are paired by direction; all trains to the city leave from the same island platform. It serves a well established residential area, nearby major hospitals (Westmead Hospital and the Children's Hospital at Westmead) and local educational institutions including the University of Western Sydney and Westmead Teaching Hospital.
