[edit] Extracurricular Activities

Sports teams include Soccer, Track and Field, Football, Field Hockey, Tennis, Softball, Baseball, Cross Country, Swimming, Gymnastics, and Volleyball. Many students are involved in sports at WA and the school's teams are often competitive. A WA sports highlight is going to a Friday night soccer or football game and then attending the school dance after the game. Another highlight is attending the Thanksgiving Westford Academy vs. Acton-Boxborough (AB) football game. The Thanksgiving Day football game alternates yearly between WA and AB campuses. Many high school alumni who are home from college attend the game as an informal "reunion" with old high school friends.

Other extracurricular activities include the Yearbook Club, Drama Club, Mock Trial, DECA, French, Spanish, German Clubs, Student Council, Photography Club and Peer Counseling.

[edit] Curriculum

WA has a reputation for being one of the more competitive schools in Massachusetts. It provides several honors and advanced placement (AP) courses.

AP courses include Calculus, Physics, World History, English, French, German, Spanish, Anatomy and Physiology, Chemistry, Psychology, and European History. Often if a particular AP course is not offered as a class, teachers will work with students to study above the normal class curriculum and prepare for the AP standardized test, which students must take and achieve a certain score to receive college credit for their AP courses.
