[edit] History
Westfield Burwood first opened in 1966, and was one of the first shopping centres in Australia[2]. The original centre was half the size it is today, and was first to have a Hoyts cinema inside the centre. Westfield Burwood was renovated in 1972 and again in 1976.
In 2001, the centre underwent a $300 million redevelopment, and was the first Westfield to be completely demolished and rebuilt. The redevelopment doubled the size of the original centre, allowed for more stores in the centre and created Food on the Park, the food court that extends to a balcony overlooking the park.
[edit] Access
Westfield Burwood has over 3000 parking spaces. Burwood is very well serviced by public transport. Westfield Burwood is a two minute stroll from Burwood station, which provides connections to the city, northern and western Sydney.
