Western Slope is the western side of the New Jersey Palisades in Jersey City, New Jersey. This neighborhood is on the gradual side of this cuesta so it is built up on the side the Palisades. The area runs the distance of Tonnele Avenue from Jersey City's border with Union City at Secaucus Road to Beach Street or further south to the Tonnele Circle at Route 139. Tonelle Avenue through Western Slope is the concurrent U.S. Route 1/9 between the Holland and Lincoln tunnels, so is dotted with motels and gas stations. Some erosional effects from development can be seen along the eastern side of Tonelle Avenue. The area along Tonelle Avenue is industrial and commercial use, whereas the blocks to the east are residential, with only one area of green space, Leonard Gordon Park on the border with The Heights neighborhood.
