Western Major Baseball League

The Western Major Baseball League or WMBL is a summer collegiate baseball league. The league can trace its roots back to 1948, as it has gone by many names over the years, including the Alberta-Saskatchewan Baseball league, Western Canadian Baseball League and Saskatchewan Baseball League before settling on its current name in 2000.
The WMBL is a wood bat league along the lines of such American collegiate circuits as the Cape Cod League, the New England Collegiate Baseball League, the Coastal Plains League, the Northwoods League, the Pacific International League and the West Coast Collegiate League. The defending WMBL champions are the Swift Current Indians.

The WMBL is comprised of twelve teams. The Calgary Dawgs suspended operations for 2006 as a result of conflicts with the Calgary Vipers over use of their ballpark. On June 6, 2006, they announced they would relocate to nearby Okotoks, Alberta for the 2007 season.
