Western Australian Youth Chorale

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Western Australian Youth Chorale (shortened to WAYC) is an elite SATB Chorale singing group formed by the Western Australian Youth Music Association, that aims to help young musicians aged 16-25 perform at the highest level. Intended to bridge the gap between school and community choirs, the choir includes young people in Secondary and Tertiary studies, and those who are in the workforce. The Choir is directed by two leading chorale specialists, Dr Robert Braham and Andrew Bushnell.

The Choir operates independently and in conjunction with other WAYMA ensembles. Future plans include international touring.

[edit] ABC Sing Out Competition

In June, WAYC participated in the Australian Broadcasting Corporation's Classic FM Sing Out Competition. After progressing to the State Finals in the Adult Section, WAYC was one of three adult choirs that qualified for the National Final to be held in the Sydney's City Recital Hall.
