West Virginia Route 259

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

West Virginia Route 259 is a connector route. It connects Virginia's State Route 259 south of Mathias in Hardy County to SR 259 at High View in Hampshire County on the Virginia border. WV 259 runs concurrent with West Virginia Route 55 north of Baker. From Wardensville, WV 259 continues north through southeastern Hampshire County and becomes SR 259 at High View. From High View, SR 259 is known as Carper's Pike and its northern terminus is on U.S. Route 50 near Gore in Frederick County.

A popular short cut is using WV 259 south from Corridor H at Baker south to SR 259 to connect to Interstate 81 in Virginia. This short cut is known as the "hog trough" by truckers.[citation needed]
