West Port House

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

West Port House is a nine storey office building in Edinburgh, Scotland. It lies in the city centre, on the corner of West Port and Lauriston Street.

It was completed in 1971, and is made primarily from pre-cast concrete cladding. On completion, it was occupied by the Post Office, who used it as their HQ in the city. It has lain unoccupied since they vacated the building several years ago.

[edit] Site redevelopment

In early 2005, Kenmore Property Group bought the building, and on 28th November 2005, they lodged an application for planning permission to Edinburgh City Council. Their plans include the demolition of West Port House, and two adjacent public houses, and the construction of a new 98,000 square foot eight storey office development.
