The Lakers began play in the 1989-1990 season as the Port Stanley Lakers. In 1993-1994, the Lakers won the East Division and then, after a league re-alignment, won the West Division in 1994-1995. Despite this success, the Lakers would not capture the provincial crown until the 1999-2000 season winning their first OHA Championship.

The Lakers moved to West Lorne for the 2004-2005 season and now call the West Elgin Arena home.
