William H. West Elementary School was recognized with the Blue Ribbon Award from the United States Department of Education, the highest honor that an American school can achieve, on four separate occasions: 1982-83, 1988-89, 1994-96[1] and again during the 2004-05 school year.[2]
West Elementary School was honored at White House as one of the four best Elementary schools in the nation in 1982 and 1989.[3]
