I'm a linguist and computer scientist, hence I am a computational linguist: I use the computer to process language data. I also develop web applications built upon open standards in the AJAX paradigm creating applications that are user-friendly and dynamic such as Gmail and Google Maps. A major focus of my work is i18n in order to make "the world wide web truly world wide" [1], especially promoting the use of minority languages.
I graduated from Green River Community College in 2002 and from Seattle Pacific University in 2005 with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science with minors in Linguistics and Spanish. After graduating from SPU, I moved to Portland, OR.
I speak English (native), Spanish (advanced), French (novice-high) and Arabic (novice-low) and I am learning Koine Greek and Ancient Hebrew. For more information about these proficiency levels, see ACTFL Proficiency Guidelines.
I am a casual Wikipedian. I update articles as I casually come across them. I am most interested in articles about Christianity, Islam, culture (Middle Eastern: Arab, Persian), language (Arabic), the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, Linguistics, and public transportation.
