Talk:West Eugene Parkway
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The POV of this seems pretty strongly in the 'opponent' camp. I note that the opponents arguments section is large, and that there are rebuttals to the proponents arguments. I'm going to see if I can clean this up a little, as soon as I learn what in the seven sons of Sauron the 'West Eugene Parkway' is. - CHAIRBOY (☎) 06:46, 27 October 2005 (UTC)
The POV does seem quite tilted in favor of the opposing camp. However, this is a BIG issue in Eugene. A clean-up is definetly needed, maybe wording contrasting the traffic problems proponents claim is occuring versus the opponent's arguments? In the absence of a "proponent's views" section, I don't think opponent's views should be it's own section. (User:Ajbenj ~~
[edit] Deleted paragraph
I deleted the following from the article, on the grounds that it is little more than POV
- The WEP is one of the oldest highway proposals still active in the United States (it was first proposed in 1951), and it violates more federal laws than nearly any other proposed road in the country. Despite numerous efforts that have declared the project dead, it will only be canceled when land acquired for the highway is transferred to the nearby BLM nature park and the $17 million appropriated to build the first segment is used for other nearby road projects.
The paragraph repeats allegations contained earlier in the article (though here stating them as uncontroversial fact, rather than as something which is disputed); and suggests a "course of action" of how to kill the parkway. I'm neutral on the subject (I don't like in Eugene, and consider this a local transportation matter). --EngineerScotty 18:47, 27 April 2006 (UTC)
