Dark blue towns are generally considered to be part of Western Massachusetts. Fewer consider the light blue towns part of Western Massachusetts; they are, in the north, all in Worcester County (Royalston, Athol and Petersham), and in the south, all in Hampden County (Brimfield, Holland and Wales).
