Western mystics are European and American writers, poets, artists, and scholars who attempt to penetrate into the essence of being and experience God directly. They may take inspiration from many traditions including Christian mysticism, Rosicrucianism, Gnosticism, Sufism, Vedanta, and Kabbalah.
