Wenford Bridge Pottery

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Wenford Bridge Pottery is near Bodmin, Cornwall, England and was the home and studio of Michael Cardew. Cardew had worked with Bernard Leach in St Ives until 1926. From there he went to Winchcombe in Gloucestershire. In 1940 he moved to Wenford Bridge to make stoneware rather than the slipware he made while at Winchcombe. Rupert Spira also studied under Michael here before moving to Shropshire to set up his own pottery.

The pottery latterly became the workshop of Seth Cardew before being recently sold. It is no longer a working pottery. Seth works in Spain.
