Wendy Kopp

Wendy Kopp (1967) is the founder and president of Teach for America (TFA), the national teaching corps.
Kopp attended Princeton University and while an undergraduate there was an officer in Business Today, a student organization that publishes the largest undergraduate run magazine in America. She graduated from Princeton University in 1989 and started TFA in 1990 using her senior thesis as its basis. Her experience, and the origins of the teacher corps are chronicled by Kopp in her book, "One Day, All Children: The Unlikely Triumph of Teach for America and What I Learned Along the Way."
Kopp has been given many honorary degrees for her work, and serves on the board of directors for several organizations including the National Council on Teacher Quality and The New Teacher Project. She lives in New York City with her husband, Richard Barth, and their three children.[1]
