[edit] Low standards for workers?

I reverted Sony465's contribution since I am not away of Wendy's in general having lower standards for workers than average in the industry. A quick google search did not confirm this. Can you collaborate? -- Jimmy C. 21:56, 7 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Aussie milk shake franchise

There's a milkshake franchise by a similar name. Dunno if they appear in the USA though. I agree - their site is at http://www.wendys.com.au and they are also known as just Wendy's (same spelling, apostrophe). Apart from milkshakes they also sell icecreams, hot dogs, etc. so I'm not sure what name would be best. Wendy's (Australia) / Wendy's (Australian chain) / Wendy's (milkshake chain)? In the Burger King article I found: "In 1986, Hungry Jack's Purchased the ailing Australian Wendy's Restaurant locations and rebranded them to the Hungry Jack's name." Which Wendy was bought out? The website seems to indicate that the australian Wendy's is still in Australia. Wendy (USA) supposidly has stores in NZ. I'm so confused.--Gbleem 16:09, 18 November 2005 (UTC)
From what I cab gather, the Wendy's Restaurant (burger chain) stores were bought out by Hungry Jack (which AFAIK is basically BK). The Wendy's icecream/shake/hotdog stores are still found in Australia and also in NZ. The Wendy's Restaurant (burger chain) stores are also found in NZ. Most people know the difference and generally, I've never seen much confusion. Nil Einne 06:35, 13 May 2006 (UTC)

Wendy's, the Restaurant, does not directly have a NYSE ticker symbol, and is just a holding of Wendy's International. Alot of the info on the Infobox is therefore redundant, and should be redirected to Wendy's International, Inc.. --Munboy 16:00, 12 November 2005 (UTC)

While it is true that Wendy's didn't serve breakfast for most of its history, They do serve breakfast now. So the part in the article where it says they don't serve breakfast needs to be changed. It says in the article that they only serve breakfast in Puerto Rico. That is false, I live in the Washington, DC metro area and I eat breakfast at Wendy's on occasion because they open at 6:00 AM while the other breakfast restaurants in the area open up around 7:00 AM.

They are test marketing breakfast in some markets at the moment. The plan is to roll out breakfast chain wide in 2007, I believe.. So Don't quote me on that.. Maybe there should be a mention of the test marketing in the article? EnsRedShirt 07:13, 24 March 2006 (UTC)

Not sure if this is verifible yet.. But I just got home from a brand new Wendy's near my house which serves Breakfast. The menu includes Bacon and Sausage Biscuts (with or without an egg), Biscuts and Gravy, an egg platter, another platter that I can not recall though I think its pancakes, hash browns (similar to the Burger king tater crowns), and orange juice. it is unkown if the lunch menu can be ordered at the same time. Is any of this notable enough to put in the article? Since it is a fairly large change for the chain.. EnsRedShirt 18:48, 28 April 2006 (UTC)

Actually, Wendy's has two types of breakfast. The old one which was dropped a while ago for some reason or another (But is still carried by some franchises), and a new one that the majority of Wendy's restaurants will start carrying next year. Right now the second is in test marketing.

They are building a new one by my house and I have seen the inside of one recently renovated. A lot more light, wood, and space in the restaurant. Perhaps these renovations should be mentioned as well... I Dare say its just as noticible as the addition of breakfast to the menu. EnsRedShirt 07:19, 24 March 2006 (UTC)

I'm skeptical about this claim in the introductory paragraph... I don't see how Wendy's can manage to procure fresh ground beef for all of its franchises worldwide, given that not all locations are located near to slaughterhouses. i work at a wendys' over the summer. i dont' know about the intricities of the situation and "freshness" and such, but i can verify that our meat is stored in the cooler and is not frozen at all (in fact, the meat is often still pretty bloody and after working grill your hands are very red from it all. it's one the grossest things when you first start working there) and the expiration date is usually less than a week from when we get it in. so, that's that.

Wendy's is also the home of a four-patty burger, colloquially known as a "Grand Slam". Though it does not appear on their in-store menus, most Wendy's employees recognize the order. Additionally, the order ]]appears on both the LCD screen of the cash registers, and on the reciept. Though it is less common, a five-patty burger will sometimes be referred to as a "Super Grand Slam", especially in Southern Canada.

There are rumours that it is illegal to advertise the burger, as it promotes obesity and binge eating.

I don't know if I've ever heard of this, but I know for a fact it's not illegal to advertise a burger with four hamburger patties, because Burger King is doing so right now. The Kids Aren't Alright 19:18, 14 July 2006 (UTC)

LOL if it were illegal to advertise something that promotes obesity and binge eating, that the whole fast food industry would crumble in days! My guess is that if the four-patty burger is true, it's just something that's not put on the menu board. When I worked at BK years ago, we had a "Double Whopper" on the registers, but not on the menu. Later on, they decided to promote it and put it on the menu. --Rehcsif 21:31, 14 July 2006 (UTC)

  • There is no such thing as the four-patty or five-patty burger in the district where I work, nor have I have even heard someone ask for such a monstrous sandwich. I'm sure such a thing would exist somewhere, as even Burger King is promoting the new quad-burger. However, to avoid the problem with original research for the article, we would need some form of published proof of such an item, or if someone, who works at a Wendy's that actually has it, took a picture of it from the register to verify that such a thing exists. —№tǒŖïøŭş4lĭfė ♫♪

  • I worked at Wendy's a number of years back. Most employees wouldn't have a clue what a Grand Slam was, but there was an unlabelled button on the till that gave you the option of a Grand Slam or a Grand Slam with cheese (slice of cheese on the bottom, two patties, slice of cheese in the middle, two patties, and a slice of cheese on top). I'm not sure about the statement: "These buffets, while economical and somewhat popular, did not fit into Wendy's fast-food oriented mindset." I tried for a little while to find references to any official reason for the withdrawal of the Superbar, but I couldn't. There are many opinions online that they weren't that economical and were in fact a money loser. Ratbert42 02:14, 19 July 2006 (UTC)

I don't know what the official Wendy's party line is on the subject, but just think about the maintenance and sanitation issues alone, and that would most certainly be reason enough to ditch the project. Then add on the food cost/food waste issue and that would definitely make it not worth the while in my book. CQJ 17:18, 24 July 2006 (UTC)

Do you think the fictional fast food chain in the video game Saints Row, "Freckle Bitches" is a refrence to Wendy's at all? Not the name itself, but the companies logo, and the refrences in the radio advert as the girl with the freckles and pig tails that was on her Daddy's resturants is all grown up now.

Ok, I came to the article actually researching Wendy's (rather than editing), got this far, and couldn't help but laugh. Perhaps it's just me, but isn't that sentence really overstating the obvious? I can't believe there's someone who'd come to the article thinking 'human finger' might be an ingredient normally included in chili. So far I haven't been bold and removed it, since it's pretty harmless keeping it in, I'm just not sure it really adds anything either. Thoughts? --Lawlore 01:48, 4 October 2006 (UTC)
