Wembley Park is a London Underground (LU) station in Wembley, Greater London. It is the nearest Underground station to the Wembley Stadium complex.
It was first opened on 14 October 1893 by the Metropolitan Railway for football services on Saturdays[1] and fully opened on 12 May 1894. Bakerloo Line services commenced on 20 November 1939 when the Stanmore branch (opened in 1932) of the Metropolitan Line was transferred to the newly-extended Bakerloo Line, and became part of the Jubilee Line on 1 May 1979 when the Bakerloo Line north of Baker Street was transferred to that new line.
The station has transformed in stages from a simple through station to the current junction station. The six LU tracks are arranged by direction (the adjacent Network Rail line does not serve or pass through it) with two Jubilee Line tracks in the centre flanked in turn by the Slow and Fast Metropolitan Line tracks; fast Metropolitan Line trains do not usually serve the station except for nearby special events and some unadvertised early morning or late night services. Jubilee Line trains terminating or reversing do so via sidings between the running lines to the north of the station.
In 2004 major redevelopment work started on the station including the building of the White Horse Bridge. This was finished in early 2006, so it will be able to deliver people to the newly rebuilt Wembley Stadium when (and if) it opens in 2007.
Some services on both lines use the station to terminate and/or start their journeys.
Disabled Access details are described in in the TfL publication "Tube Access Guide" which is available online or by request from 020 8722 1234 (textphone 020 7918 3015).
