Location of Wellston, Michigan

Wellston is an unincorporated community in Manistee County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The community is within Norman Township in the Manistee National Forest. It just south of M-55, about 20 miles east of Manistee and about 25 miles west of Cadillac.

Wellston is at 44°13′01″N, 85°57′28″W. The ZIP code is 49689 and the FIPS place code is 85300. The elevation is 773 feet above sea level.

Wellston, was named for the first postmaster, Adelmer J. Wells. The post office officially opened June 30, 1892. The town was founded by the Swigart Land Company along the Chicago & Western Michigan Railroad.

Wellston is home to the world-renowned critically-ill kids' ministry Little Mary's Hospitality House, founded in 1982.
