Wekweti (meaning "rock lake"), with a population of 135 (as of 1996), was formerly known as Snare Lake, and is located approx. at 64°N lat. and 144°W long., 200 km north of Yellowknife. Local languages are Dogrib and English, and the community belongs to the electoral district of North Slave and to land claim area of Dogrib.
