The Weida's source is near Pausa in Saxony; it then flows through the Thüringer Schiefergebirge passing Zeulenroda-Triebes and through the eponymous Weida. It then feeds into the Weiße Elster near Wünschendorf. Its tributaries include the Auma and the Leuba.
