Weapons research

The research of weapons and weapon capabilities. A good example of weapon research is the Manhattan Project. Much of the ongoing research is conducted at, or through the auspices of, institutions of higher learning such as the University of California, which operates (as it has for sixty years) the Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL).
