Weald of Kent Grammar School for Girls
Weald of Kent is a grammar school for girls aged 11-18. The headteacher is Mrs. S. A. Rowell and the school has an efficient body of senior staff. This school is a languages college, where girls may study French and either German, Japanese or Spanish. In the sixth form it is possible to study Italian. It is a fairly modern school, and in 2003 a new canteen called 'La Wokerie' was built, run by staff from 'Independent Catering' who provide healthy lunches for the girls every day. In 2006, a new English and Humanities Block was built which has built in air-conditioning, due to conditions in the older main building becoming uncomfortable in the summer. Weald of Kent prides itself on good exam results and recently came 15th in the school league tables.
The Uniform Policy.
The uniform at Weald of Kent consists of a 'burgundy' or red jumper made from 100% acrylic, a navy skirt which must be no more than six centimetres above or below the knee, and a white fitted shirt with the school logo on the collar. These items must be purchased from Simmons, which runs a school shop in a locker room on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and must be worn with tights and black sensible shoes. In the summer, a summer dress may be worn, although there have been recent complaints by members of the public that these dresses are too short.
Most students enjoy attending Weald of Kent as it opens the gate to a number of job prospects.
