We Come to the River

We Come to the River is an opera described as Actions for music in two parts (11 scenes) by Hans Werner Henze to an English libretto by Edward Bond.

It was Henze's 7th opera, written for the Royal Opera in London. It is concerned with the horrors of war.

It was first performed at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, London on 12 July 1976, subsequently staged in Berlin, and at Santa Fe in 1984.
