We Are 138
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
We Are 138 is a song written and performed by punk band The Misfits. There are several theories and rumors about the origin of the song, including (but not limited to):
- 138 is a police code for homicide, rape, or grave robbing.
- The lyrics are inspired by George Lucas' first film entitled THX 1138.
- 138 is the highest The Misfits had come on "the charts" at the time.
- it's about sex (69 x 2 = 138)
- it's a secret code that the songwriter, Glenn Danzig, used as a child.
- It means nothing.
Danzig has commented on the different explanations that his former bandmates have offered publicly about the song: "They didn't write it and they don't know what the fuck its about. It's about violence."
This song is the official song of the Los Angeles Riot Squad, an Ultras style supporters section for the Major League Soccer club Los Angeles Galaxy. This group stands in Section 138 at The Home Depot Center stadium in Carson, California and taunt the opposing team and away fans with chants, songs and Tifo displays.
