[edit] History

WDLT originated as WJQY ("W-Joy"), a light music station, in the early 1970s. It served the suburb of Chickasaw, Mobile. Facing competition from similar format local stations, WJQY switched to a country music format with the jingle "Q Country". This also faced local competition and the station was sold in 1984. The new owner took on the current call letters and switched the format to light rock.

The station was sold again in 1992 and changed the station to its current format. At the same time, a new transmitter boosted coverage to serve both Mobile and Pascagoula in Mississippi.
