Waynesville is a community located in Brantley County, Georgia. It is part of the 'Brunswick, Georgia Metropolitan Statistical Area'. As of the 2000 census, the community (Zip-code 31566) had a total population of 2,710.

Named after Revolutionary War Hero, General "Mad" Anthony B. Wayne, Waynesville is located near the old Post Road which is the dividing line between the counties of Brantley and Glynn. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 78.55 mi². 78.08 mi² of it is land and 0.47 mi² of it is covered by water.

As of the censusGR2 of 2000, there were 2,710 people, 1,273 households, and 751 families residing in the city. The population density was 34.7/mi². The racial makeup of the city was 89.0% White, 9.1% African American, 0.3% Native American, 0.1% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.3% from other races, and 1.2% from two or more races. 0.9% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There were 980 households out of which 45.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 60.2% were married couples living together, 11.5% had a female householder with no husband present, and 23.4% were non-families. 18.9% of all households were made up of individuals and 7.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.77 and the average family size was 3.13.

The median income for a household in the city was $31,161, and the median income for a family was $32,500. Males had a median income of $29,282 versus $16,688 for females. The per capita income for the city was $13,297. 11.5% of families were below the poverty line.
