Wayne Towne Center

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Wayne Towne Center is a shopping mall located in Wayne, New Jersey, right next to Willowbrook Mall. Its anchor stores are JCPenney, Fortunoff, Old Navy, and Borders Books and Music. Its secondary stores include national discount chains Loehmann's and Daffy's and a T.G.I. Friday's restaurant. The mall has a gross leasable area of 653,000 ft²[1].

The mall was known as the West Belt Mall until the late 1980s.

Like the Wayne Hills Mall, Wayne Towne Center does not have a large shopping base. In this case, it's due in part to its proximity to Willowbrook. The J.C. Penney and Fortunoff stores are large draws, and the Borders store does a fair amount of business, but the other stores in the mall have not had as much success.

The store that has been hit the hardest is probably Old Navy, whose business has suffered since the company opened another, larger store in Willowbrook. The other problem the mall has had is with its food court, where all of its previous tenants has either moved out or folded altogether (including an Arby's, which strangely enough opened a stand in Willowbrook in 2004). The mall recently took care of that problem, closing off the food court altogether.

The mall consists of a verity of smaller “specialty shops” catering to a more niche market. These shops include Beautiful Events clothing, Fabulous Mats and More and New Moon Comics, LLC.
