Wayne High School is a school of more than 2300 students in Huber Heights, Ohio, situated north of Dayton, OH.

As of 2006 the head principal is Mr. John Allen

The school is a campus-style high school with seven buildings. The oldest building is Filbrun Hall and the newest is Alumni Hall.

At Wayne High School, athletics are central to student life and the community of Huber Heights. Wayne hosts many athletic teams including Men's Baseball, Basketball, Cross Country, Competitive Cheerleading, Men's Football, Golf, Indoor Track and Field, Women's Fast Pitch Softball, Swimming and Diving, Soccer, Tennis, Track and Field, Volleyball, and Men's Wrestling.

One of the largest and most important activities in the entire community is football. Now in its fiftieth year of playing, Wayne's Varsity Football team has won 4 conference championships and made it to the state playoff 10 times. In 1999 the team made it to the division I state championship game. In 2005, the team was consistently ranked in the top ten teams of Ohio.

Wayne's greatest rival is Centerville High School, stemming from the defeat of Centerville's varsity football team by Wayne in 1981, breaking Centerville's six-year 53-game winning streak. "Fifty-three was all they'd see!" and "Fifty-four, there'd be no more!" were popular phrases chanted at Centerville games in the few years following.

The Wayne Men's Track team won the Division I boys state team title in 1995. This was the second time in school history that an athletic team from Wayne won a state title. The men won the state team title again in 2000. The wrestling team was the first Wayne athletic team to win a state team title.

  • The mascot for Wayne athletics is the Warrior, depicted by a stereotypical image of a Native American. The logo is unique to the school, and is sometimes used as a symbol to represent the entire school district. The Warrior can be found everywhere in the school, including being painted on a wall in nearly every classroom on the campus.
  • Wayne's colors are red, black, and white.
  • Wayne's fight song is the Washington and Lee Swing.
  • Wayne is a member of the Greater Western Ohio Conference.

  • The name of the school, Wayne, originates from the name of the area, Wayne Township, before its incorporation as the city of Huber Heights in 1981. The township was named for Major General "Mad" Anthony Wayne. Wayne led the attack on the Blue Jacket's confederacy at the Battle of Fallen Timbers in 1794, and negotiated the Treaty of Greenville that ended Indian fighting in the region in 1795. Despite Wayne's fame for fighting the Native Americans, the mascot for Wayne High School is ironically a Native American warrior.
