From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Wayne Gilbert is a Canadian animator who worked on 1986's The Care Bears Movie II: A New Generation as an art director. His only other major contribution in animation was for 2003's computer-animated Let Go (for which he won a Crystal Heart Award at the Heartland Film Festival).
Gilbert was educated at Sheridan College, the same institution where A New Generation's director, Dale Schott, was an alumnus. There, he received a diploma for Classical Animation, and returned there as a teacher of ten years.
He worked as a background painter, department head and traditional animator at famous animation studio Nelvana, served as art director at Wang Films in Taiwan and supervised creative staffing and professional development for Walt Disney Animation Canada. In the meantime, he worked on some short films of his own.
Gilbert is currently employed at Industrial Light and Magic, where he has worked on such films as Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones and The Mummy Returns.
