Wayne Flynt

Wayne Flynt is Professor Emeritus in the Department of History at Auburn University. He has won numerous teaching awards and been a Distinguished University Professor for many years. His research focuses on Southern culture, Alabama politics, Southern religion, education reform, and poverty. He is now Editor-in-Chief of the new Online Encyclopedia of Alabama.

Dr. Flynt received his A.B. from Howard College (now Samford University), and his M.S. and Ph.D. from Florida State University. After teaching at Samford for eight years, in 1977 Dr. Flynt joined the faculty at Auburn where he has remained.
