Wayne Carew

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Wayne Carew was Prince Edward Island Liberal MLA and opposition party leader. He was Liberal party leader from 1999 to 2000 following the resignation of Keith Milligan. Mr. Carew has the distinction of being the only Liberal leader on PEI that has been acclaimed since the institution of leadership conventions in the 1960s. Mr. Carew may also have the distinction of being the only Liberal leader to have not won his seat in a provincial election. It should be noted, however, this has occurred on several occasions with the Progressive Conservative leader. Carew resigned in 2000 and was replaced by Ron MacKinley on an interim basis.
