Wattle Grove is a suburb of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. It is undoubtedly the best locality in the Liverpool district. Wattle Grove is served by two primary schools, Holsworthy Primary School and Wattle Grove Primary School. Holsworthy High (Public) and St Marks Coptic Orthodox College (Private) are the two Secondary schools that exist in Wattle Grove.

Wattle Grove has many walking and bike paths which all lead to the suburb's artificial lake with playgrounds scattered throughout the suburb. The walking tracks and the green strips around the lake are very popular for the health conscious and nature loving residents. There are also many ducks and some eels in the lake. This suburb is blessed with some high quality playgrounds and a sports club. Moorebank Sports Club provides youngsters with opportunities to get formal training in Rugby League, Soccer, Cricket and Netball.

The main forms of transportation in and out of the suburb is by car. There is also a bus route, the 901 run by Transit First, which link Wattle Grove to the Holsworthy railway station which is hardly a 5 minute drive from any corner of Wattle Grove and Liverpool. The Holsworthy station has a large under cover and an open car park available free of charge. Wattle Grove is also very well connected because of its proximity to M5 and M7 Motorways.

Wattle Grove has one shopping centre, that was severely damaged in a deliberate fire on December 1st 2005. Shops gutted by the fire included the local Blockbuster video store, a Charcoal Chicken shop, a Bakery, a Chinese restaurant, Medical Centre, Pharmacy, Clothes store, Real Estate and Butchers. It was rumoured that the fire was started part of an attempted robbery and the fire spread through the void areas of the roof between each shop.

Today the shops are currently undergoing demolition and rebuilding, with the only shop remaining open being Coles. Work is expected to be finished by mid-2007.

A chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and St. Thomas' Indian Orthodox Church are also located in Wattle Grove.

The Wattle Grove Salvation Armyis active within the community running a kids club, youth group, parenting courses, family events, BBQ's and church services as well as meeting the needs of the community in the ways the Salvos are known for.

[edit] Recent Events

Recently Wattle Groves tree lined streets have changed, many of the pine trees that lined the main road have been cut down, due to their roots potentially damaging nearby houses or falling onto houses during storms. Native shrubs have been planted to replace the trees that have been removed.

The fields between Wattle Grove and the Holsworthy train station is replaced by a new suburb. The suburb Mornington is currently in the development stages with Stage 1 completed and Stage 2 being constructed. A new shopping centre will also be where the old Tank at the entry to the train station was.
