Watson Pharmaceuticals, Incorporated (NYSE: WPI) is one of the 20 largest pharmaceutical companies in the United States. Based in Corona, California, Watson Pharmaceuticals produces Ferrlecit for treatment of iron deficiency anemia, the transdermal patch Oxytrol for control of overactive bladder disorder, the transdermal patch Androderm for treatment of low testosterone, as well as many other brand name medications. Watson Pharmaceuticals also produces over a hundred generic medications.

Allen Chao, Ph.D. and David Hsia, Ph.D. founded Watson Pharmaceuticals in 1984. As a tribute to his mother whose maiden name was Hwa, Dr. Chao named the new company Watson for the close homophone “Hwa’s son.”
