Waterface

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Waterface were a band which originated in Arizona, USA. The band was formed in 1999, and released their first and only album Seven Days on 15th August 2000 through Orpheus Records, a subdivision/imprint label of EMI. The band played lots of shows in the local area, but did not continue for very long, and disbanded a few years after forming.

In the past, it has been said that Waterface was a continuation of another Arizona band, Grey Daze, however, this is not the case. Waterface is a band that drummer Sean Dowdell joined after Grey Daze had disbanded, and is the only member of Grey Daze who participated in the project.

Since disbanding, Sean has continued his career as a tattoo artist at Club Tattoo and plays in the live cover band Bucket of Weenies set up by Linkin Park vocalist Chester Bennington. It is not known what paths the other members of the band undertook after the split.

  • Randy Martinez - Guitar
  • Oscar Betancourt - Guitar
  • Dave Sardegna - Keyboards, Bass
  • Sean Dowdell - Drums, Background Vocals

Waterface started when the singer and bassist of Grey Daze quit and drummer Sean Dowdell and guitarist Bobby Benish recruited Jodi Wendt on vocals and Dave Sardegna on bass. They played out as Grey Daze for about six months, playing songs previously written by Grey Daze. They then changed the name to Waterface and wrote all new songs. Later, Bobby Benish quit due to personal reasons. Oscar Betancourth and Randy Martinez were added after Bobby's departure. The bulk of the songs were written with Bobby Benish but recorded by Oscar and Randy. In the later life of the band, Waterface toured with drummer Jay Ramirez. Waterface disbanded in 2001 after being released from Aezra Records due to poor record sales and band turmoil.
