Water Day (Vartivar) is a holiday throughout Armenia, as part of a nation-wide celebration of the value of water. Children call adults into the front yard and douse them with buckets of water. The adults return fire with their own buckets of water. Also called 'Jewer Day,' it is celebrated on July 20 each year. Anyone who happens to visit on that day can expect to get drenched.
