Watchkeeper WK450

Watchkeeper WK450 is a £700 million contract awarded in July 2005 to Thales to provide the British Army with an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) for reconnaissance use.

Watchkeeper will be made by a joint venture company set up by Thales UK and the Israeli company Elbit Systems to produce the vehicle in the UK. The Watchkeeper is to be based on the Elbit Hermes 450 UAV (designated WK450). The engines will be rotary engines from UAV Engines Ltd (UEL). It is intended to enter service in 2010. It will have a weight of 450 kg and a payload capacity of 150 kg.
