"Wasteland" is a single released by hard rock/alternative metal band 10 Years in 2005. It is their debut single from their first major release, The Autumn Effect. The song reached number-one on the Billboard Modern Rock Tracks chart in February 2006.
The music video addresses the social problem of human rights around the world. The video received nominations for Best Direction and Best Art Direction at the 2006 MTV Video Music Awards.
The song is about the lead singer, Jesse Hasek's, high-school girlfriend who was addicted to heroin. She was obsessed with the drug and didn't/couldn't quit her habit (despite Jesse's attempts to save her from herself). Eventually she overdosed...
