Wassertrüdingen is located in a nice landscape between the Hesselberg, the only franconian mountain with a view on the alps, the wooded heights of the Oettinger Forrest and the foothills of the Hahnenkamm. The Fränkisches Seenland (Frankonian Lake Country), a recreation area is ca. 15 kilometers away.

The first mention in a document dates from the year 836 as truth muntiga. In 1524 Wassertrüdingen is coccupied by peasants during the Peasants' War. During the Thirty Years' War it was severly damaged and hadn`t fully recovered yet 150 years later. In the last weeks of the Second World War the train station is bombarded.
