State Route 401 connects State Route 4 with U.S. Route 101. It is used as a bypass of Long Beach, Washington for those going from Astoria, Oregon to Raymond, Washington. The route's southernmost end is at a traffic light with US-101, and traveling south from this intersection will bring you to the Astoria-Megler Bridge and Oregon. North of this junction there is a rest area with commemorative exhibits regarding the Lewis and Clark Expedition.
