Warrington Transporter Bridge
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Warrington Transporter Bridge (or Bank Quay Transporter Bridge) across the River Mersey has a span of 187 feet (57 m). It was built in 1916 and, although it has been out of use since circa 1964, it is still extant.
It is privately owned and it was built to connect the two parts of the large chemical and soap works of Messrs Joseph Crosfield & Son Ltd.
This bridge is listed by English Heritage as Grade II* but presently it is on their buildings at Risk Register because of its poor condition. It is also a Scheduled Ancient Monument.
