[edit] Emblems & names

Since at least the early 1990s, the club was known as 'The Bushrangers', although the use of this emblem was discontinued due the fact that it was shared with the emblem of the Victorian State Cricket Team. The club currently shares the same moniker as the Warrandyte Football Club - 'The Bloods' - although the use of this attribute is no longer common.

[edit] Residence

Warrandyte Cricket Club has traditionally resided at Taroona Ave Reserve in Warrandyte, comprising of two ovals and clubroom facilities, shared by the Warrandyte Football Club and the Warrandyte Junior Football Club. The club also utilizes Stintons Reserve and occasionally the Warrandyte High School oval.

[edit] Players & statistics

Some scorebooks from seasons past have not yet been located, so statistics remain partial for some players. For a full list of statistics, see the Warrandyte Cricket Club Stats page

[edit] Team of the century

On November 25, 2000 the Warrandyte Cricket Club held its Club 12 presentation in which we announced the best team of the last century. All life members voted on players that have played at least 50 games in the 1st XI, scored at least 100 runs or taken 100 wickets, with the highest 12 vote getters making the side. The team is as follows...

  • Allan Chapman (Capt)- Stylish RH opening batsman & tireless RH opening bowler.
  • John Sharman (V/Capt) - Determined RH top order batsman & underrated RH leg-spin bowler.
  • John Chapman - Fluent RH Opening batsman & gifted wicket keeper when standing up or back
  • Graeme Jacobs - Dogged & unflappable LH opening batsman & safe slips fieldsman.
  • Fred Jungwirth - Bouncy RH leg spin bowler & reliable lower order batsman. Outstanding outfielder.
  • Bruce Kline - Brilliant wicket keeper, especially standing at the wicket, & handy RH lower order batsman.
  • Graeme Lloyd - Brilliant LH swing bowler. He took 71 wickets in 1983/84 season. Regular No. 11 batsman.
  • Steve Pascoe - Complete allrounder. Accurate RH medium bowler & middle order RH batsman.
  • Greg Tregear - Classic RH top order batsman and tidy RH off-spin bowler.
  • Gerald Walshe - Powerful RH opening fast bowler & reliable lower order batsman.
  • Robert White - Aggressive LH top & middle order batsman & RH off-spin bowler.
  • Alan Woolcock - Textbook LH orthodox spin bowler & aggressive lower order batsman.

There were several notable players who missed out on selection in this team. The most notable is former District Cricketer John Salter, who made 1645 runs at an average of 63.27. Although arguably the finest batsman to every play for Warrandyte, he did not meet the criteria having only played 28 games. Former test fast bowler Rodney Hogg also failed to quality, having only played 24 games. A controversial omission was that of medium pacer Chris Snaidero, who had an impeccable first XI record.
