Warping (sailing)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In sailing warping is a slow method of progressing in still waters or against the wind. It is carried out by throwing or shooting a warp anchor in the intended direction of progress and as it settles, reeling it in; thus pulling the boat in that direction.

The warp anchor can be a dedicated device, or a normal anchor or more usually, a sea anchor.
