Warden Waddlesworth
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Warden Waddlesworth is a fictional anthropomorphic dog of indeterminate breed created for the animated television series Darkwing Duck. He is the warden of the un-named prison in St. Canard. He was voiced by Laurie Faso in Darkly Dawns the Duck and by Jim Cummings in his subsequent two episodes, Twin Beaks and Jail Bird. His name was not revealed until Jail Bird however, and in his previous two appearances he is simply called "The Warden."
In Darkly Dawns the Duck, Part I, we see that Warden Waddlesworth is very proud of the fact his prison holds Taurus Bulba, an infamous villain. So proud in fact that Waddlesworth schedules daily gloats over the seemingly placid villain. Unknown to Waddlesworth however is that Bulba is such a criminal genius he is continuing his operations from right inside his cell, and he eventually escapes by turning the entire prison into a gigantic airship. Waddlesworth did not appear in Darkly Dawns the Duck, Part II.
In Twin Beaks it is revealed that Waddlesworth is a firm believer in psychic powers, and has trouble keeping track of his socks. When Bushroot seemingly dies overnight in his cell, Waddlesworth summons Darkwing Duck and Launchpad to get to the bottom of things, and is impressed when Launchpad (not Darkwing) solves the mystery. Later, in Jail Bird, Waddlesworth is briefly taken hostage by Darkwing's evil double, Negaduck, when he takes over the prison in order to steal the powers of his erstwhile captive teammates, the Fearsome Five.
