Charles, I'm afraid that I disagree with you. Mr Steadman just isn't notable enough to appear on this page. You just can't compare his achievements to those others mentioned in the article.Crusading composer 21:49, 22 October 2005 (UTC)

Your argument was that composers didn't belong here. Which I don't accept. It is quite a different argument, that some settings of war poems are below the threshold for inclusion in WP. On the whole I think that threshold has in other cases been set quite low, in fact (I could look up and cite cases). Charles Matthews 10:06, 23 October 2005 (UTC)

I have had a few days to think about this and I don't think that Mr Steadman meets even the low threshold of notability that you referred to. It's a bit of an insult that somebody out there feels that he can be mentioned in the same list.Crusading composer 13:39, 25 October 2005 (UTC)

Wouldn't it make more sense to have this page named 'War poetry' with a discussion of this genre and its influence on perceptions of the war back home, rather than calling it 'War poet' with a redir from 'War poetry'? Ben davison 23:13, 25 July 2006 (UTC)

According to the article, war poetry as a genre really started with World War I, yet war has been a subject of poetry since the beginning of recorded history. Ideally, a page on "war poetry" should start with the ancient Greeks and go to the modern day, while "war poet" would focus on the use of that term since World War I. I think it would be best to keep this as an article on the specific uses of "war poet" and start another article on "war poetry" with a broader focus. Stilgar135 17:51, 28 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] What Terrible Article

For genre of writing so significant as war poetr, this article is a complete joke. It is badly written, inaccurate and ambiguous in almost every detail it gives. For example it gives an entire category to the Spanish Civil War, yet contributes not one example of war poetry from that war, and where is the citation for the claim that war poetry has declined since then.--Nwe 15:13, 31 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Vandalism?

Look at the World War I section and read it. Am I blind or does anyone else see it because when I tried to edit it to delete that, I couldn't find it.. =\

'Cause I already took care of it; I'm that awesome. --Gwern (contribs) 04:07, 3 November 2006 (UTC)
