Wangford

Wangford is a village in Suffolk, England, just off the A12 trunk road just outside Southwold.
The church, dedicated to Saints Peter and Paul, is the church of a former Cluniac Priory. Derelict at the end of the 19th century, it was restored by the local Rous family, the Earls of Stradbroke.
Reputedly, Wangford provided the inspiration for the stage name of Sam Hutt, a well-known London gynaecologist, who specialises in spoof Country and Western music. The chosen name being 'Hank Wangford'.
Wangford is connected to the rest of suffolk by 2 main roads. At one side of the village the road leads straight on to the A12 (dual carriage way), and is very difficult to get onto from that side. The other side of the village leads to Reydon, and Southwold.
At the centre of the village there is a community centre, containing a reasonable sized hall, a bar, a kitchen and a small games room. The most used time of this centre is at the new years party, when local DJ Nick plays family classics to entertain most of the village.
