Wang Yongzhi

Wang Yongzhi (王永志) (November 17, 1932 - ), born in Changtu County, Liaoning, China, is an aerospace scientist and academician at the Chinese Academy of Engineering. He is notable for being the general architect and designer of China's first manned spacecraft Shenzhou 5 and Shenzhou 6. He was awarded the nation's highest scientific and technological prize, State Preeminent Science and Technology Award, by President Hu Jintao in 2003. Wang Yongzhi graduated from Moscow Aviation Institute in 1961.
