Wamberal, New South Wales

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Wamberal is a suburb located on the Central Coast of New South Wales, Australia, as part of the Gosford City Council local government area. Just an hour of so north of Sydney, it is a popular place for commuters. Considered one of the jewels of the Central Coast, along with the surrounding districts of Terrigal, Forresters Beach, Avoca, McMasters Beach and Copacabana. The population in 2003 was about 12,000.

The country on which Wamberal is built consists of rolling hills, rocky outcrops of sandstone amongst fertile loamy soils. Leafy two-hectare blocks of land within large tracts of native forest and pockets of rainforest, are typically called home by the professional demographic. Expansive lawns, gardens of flowering shrubs, native bushland and tranquil dams are some of the natural attractions for residents. The ability to enjoy relaxed revelry and host late night social events without disturbing adjoining neighbours is another attraction to the infamously sociable community.

The surrounding district, included numerous waterways as well as the ocean, has instilled an obsession with watersports in the local population. Fishing and sailing are the most popular pastimes, and it is not uncommon for a flotilla of sea craft to be out on the water early on a workday afternoon.
