The Hon Sir Walter Campbell AC, QC (1921–4 September 2004) was Governor of Queensland from 1985-1992.
After serving in the Royal Australian Air Force during World War II, Campbell was admitted to the Queensland Bar in 1948, and practiced as a lawyer, becoming a Queen's Counsel in 1960. He was appointed as a Judge of the Supreme Court of Queensland in 1967, and Chief Justice from 1982 to 1985.
He was Chancellor of the University of Queensland from 1977 to 1985.
In 1987 he had to preside over Joh Bjelke-Petersen's last days as Premier of Queensland. This meant approving the sacking of three ministers on November 24, then accepting his resignation on December 1 after being deposed as parliamentary leader of the National Party on November 26.
He was also Governor at the same time as Brisbane hosted Expo '88.
