Wallingford By-pass Bridge
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Wallingford By-pass Bridge was built in 1993 as part of a by-pass round Wallingford, Oxfordshire, relieving the single-track Wallingford Bridge, and is believed to be the newest bridge on the non-tidal Thames. It forms part of the A4130. During the construction, the remains of a late Bronze Age settlement on a former eyot were found on the west bank of the Thames. Close to the east bank, the construction work allowed examination of Grim's Ditch, the long earthwork followed by the Ridgeway Path, and showed it to be late Iron Age/early Roman.
